Success Stories: Chris
“Dr. Reichenberg-Ullman asked tons of questions about
our son that were unlike any asked by an M.D.. She got very specific
about daily habits, emotions, fears, dreams, and quirks. She even
asked what makes our son special or different from anyone else.
Since our son had received homeopathic care before… all the
obvious possibilities had been tried already. Our main expectation
was to be able to live with him more comfortably, and to try to
keep him in mainstream schools.
Chris was six, heading into first grade, and he was completely
capable of being interviewed. However, when the doctor tried to
videotape him, she mostly got footage of the empty chair. Sitting
was impossible. He moved constantly and was not very coherent in
his answers the first time. Chris was also very obsessive-compulsive
at this point, washing his hands forty to sixty times a day. He
kept touching things all over the office, with both hands an equal
number of times.
Within a couple of days after taking the first medicine Dr.
R. prescribed, the hand washing stopped, as did Chris’ continual
rhyming. When he started first grade, his teacher told us she saw
no difference between him and any other first grader.
We were already familiar with the changes possible with homeopathy,
but were unprepared for the large-scale transformation of our son.
He had been thrown out of two daycares as an infant and almost expelled
several times from kindergarten. Ever since the first-grade, the
positive changes have persisted. His fifth grade teacher considers
him one of the best students and nicest kids in the class.
Chris started making friends in the first grade, right after
we took him to see Dr. R., but rarely had play dates. Now he does
fairly well keeping up socially with the kids in his class, though
he still has some playground issues. Chris has a group of kids he
considers friends, but no one he considers his best friend. He’s
still not entirely sure of the motives of the other boys who seem
to be teasing him.
One teacher with AS experience related to me that Chris looks
completely normal in a group of kids. He now has much more fluid,
normal-looking facial expressions and speaks more flowingly, rather
than the choppier, random speech pattern he had previously. We’ve
also seen a big change in his writing style. Chris’ hypersensitivity
has also calmed greatly in many respects, though he still has some
hearing issues.
He is much easier to live with. Random noises are less frequent.
Although still fairly talkative, he can calm himself down. Much
less fearful, our son has a significantly better grasp of fantasy
versus reality. We went camping last summer several times without
his being afraid of bugs, darkness, snakes, and sharks. Chris’
diet has widened considerably and he handles unfamiliar tastes and
textures much more easily. Most of all, he has become much more
empathetic and understanding of other people’s feelings. Oh,
yes, he sleeps now! A huge improvement to all of our lives!
I would like to tell any other parents at their wits’
end that there truly is hope. It may take a few remedy trials, but
this therapy reaches into the souls and unties knots, allowing the
true self to emerge. I felt like such a failure as a mother before
Chris was treated, and society reinforced that feeling. Our whole
family felt isolated and frazzled most of the time. This medicine
is allowing Chris to develop like a normal child who, no doubt,
will grow into an amazing adult.
This has changed all our lives, by far, for the better. We
can have a social life, drive in the car for more than thirty minutes,
and eat dinner together- all eating the same thing! We don’t
have to apologize to teachers or other parents anymore for Chris’
behavior. We can buy pants with buttons and zippers rather than
just soft sweatpants. We look forward to seeing him through school
and career successfully and, finally, we have a loving, demonstrative,
intelligent, funny son. Whew!!”
